This blog came into being after I overheard a salesman at a large electronics store in the San Francisco Bay Area doing a hard sell (using all the buzz words; virus, spam, spyware, "your computer will burst into flames without this utility!" etc.) on a brand new computer user. The buyer in question had just bought a new machine and had been frightened into buying almost $150.00 in firewall, anti-virus, spy ware blocker, spam-blocker (and probably Anti-UFO) software.
